It’s totally plausible that when Gordon was apprehended by the HECU he lost his original crowbar, this crowbar was taken by HECU and ended up on the surface where it is seen in Half-Life: Blue Shift, when the scientists and Barney leave in the SUV, Barney takes the crowbar with him. Not sure how he’d know it was Gordon’s.
This is so cool. Nice vid. And someone please make it explorable game. 🙂

I was able to get in there myself with some funky parkour on the fallen beam.
I thought he lost his crowbar a few times before finding another. Always figured barney picked up one of gordons many discarded crowbars while he was fightin for his life in black mesa.
I would like to know something really important, the dead elevator of the first map of Forget About Freeman. Is it headed to the On A Rail map? This one that has different path like an extra path for Freeman. I am pretty sure that this elevator is the same. Can you check it out?

Barney probably just said that as a joke, while giving him a crowbar he found somewhere in the city. keeping a single crowbar for 20 years is crazy, considering you can get a new one easily. maybe a single proof that it's from black mesa is that it remainded unchanged between the games

I really need to understand how this laser thing works, because i'm having some trouble doing some circuits in my map.
every time i try to run it i get a failed to initialize authentication interface.I'm using opposing force
I had the same problem, but the fix for that is easy: The base game directory actually isn't the valve folder, it's the main Half-Life folder where all the subfolders like valve, gearbox etc. are stored.

I remember playing this demo. It was like 95MB and we had to leave it to download overnight on dialup. When I got the actual game I was disappointed for a few minutes that it wasn’t a continuation from this demo. But of course that changed after playing the real game for a while

In Half-Life black ops with sniper rifle in chapters "On a rail" and "Surface Tension" are not real, just a texture. Sniper rifle does not drops.

I've been watching your entire playlist and it's been extremely helpful to me, it's the only one that really helped me get back into mapping after so many years. I really appreciate it! I'm not sure if maybe I missed it somewhere, but what about rotating doors? (the classic door) I managed to create one no problem, but only usable with E or with outside triggers, not pushable. Do you have any video covering rotating doors?

Would love this sort of thing, combined with the Black Mesa combined map you did, ported to S&box, and expanded to where you could run/fly over the surface without missing textures. Sort of a pipedream, but would make the reality of the 90s games feel so much more cohesive
They don't look like their gaming counterparts at all.
There's a possible chance at the road that leads out of bounds, might have two roads that split up. One might be the exit, and the other one up front might lead to the freight yard battle in "We've Got hostiles!" from Half - Life.
You should check out Validator_maybeat. He recreated the entire Black Mesa remake maps in S&Box including Black Mesa Azure sheep, Black Mesa Blue Shift, and on a rail uncut without any errors (like surface tension being below and the rest of surface tension going off the cliff)
This might sound stupid but do i need to learn any programing language to be able to over engineer a goodsrc map like this ? Make for like scripting or smtng idk ?
